Celestron NexStar 8SE GoTo Telescope Overview
For many years, the iconic orange NexStar tube has represented superior views and ease of use in the astronomy community. Packed with the latest technology, it still continues to be one of the most popular GoTo telescopes in the world. The 8SE is the largest in the lineup and offers unforgettable views.
NexStar 8SE Schmidt-Cassegrain Features
Punchy 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain f/10 optics - Schmidt-Cassegrain optics are normally marvelous for planet viewing, but with a full eight inches of aperture, you have enough light gathering power to see fine detail, like Cassini’s Division in Saturn’s rings, the cloud bands on Jupiter, and the Great Red Spot. You'll see the craters and seas of our own moon in a whole new way. And you won't be limited to the solar system; the 8SE will show you hundreds of pinpoint stars in the Hercules Globular Cluster, the spiral arms of the Whirlpool Galaxy, and more.
Fully-automated GoTo system - Use the hand-controller (which fits conveniently in the mount arm) to direct the telescope to automatically point to any of the objects in its 40,000 item database. Invite your friends over, and enjoy a completely guided tour of the night sky, customized for your location and time of night. You'll always have the latest firmware, since it is flash upgrade-able.
Three-star alignment - Take advantage of the SkyAlign technology and completely side-step the frustration of aligning your telescope. Simply center the eyepiece on three bright objects and press ALIGN.
Advanced tracking features - The Nexstar 8SE has multiple tracking speeds, so that you can track planets, the sun, and stars or other deep-sky objects. Plus, there are 9 slewing speeds. Finally it includes the ability to automatically trigger a camera's shutter release for Fastar or piggyback wide-field photography or conventional prime-focus astrophotography. There is also an autoguider port.
Sturdy and convenient mount and tripod - Of course advanced tracking features don't mean much if your mount is flimsy. The all-steel tripod keeps your image stable. The patented single-fork arm mount is portable and easy to set-up. There is an internal battery compartment which eliminates dangling parts, and there is a tray for your eyepieces.
No-tool set-up and portability - The entire Nexstar system can be broken down into light, perfectly portable pieces and put together again without the use of any tools. Great for quick, backyard set-ups or car transport to a dark site.
