Celestron Omni 1.25" 2X Barlow Lens Features
- Doubles the magnification of each eyepiece you own.
- Maintains the eye relief of each eyepiece.
- Accepts 1.25" eyepieces
A Barlow lens doubles the your choices of magnifications without requiring you to buy twice as many eyepieces. How? Well, let's say you have two eyepieces - a 25mm and a 10mm. Pick up a Celestron Omni 2X Barlow Lens and now you have four magnifications to choose from. Combining this lens with the 25 mm provides double the magnification, or the equivalent of a 12.5 mm eyepiece, while the 10 mm gives you the power of a 5 mm eyepiece.
And while it doubles the magnification of your eyepiece, it doesn't affect the eye relief at all. This is an important benefit of Barlow lenses. Eye relief is the distance your eye must be from the eyepiece in order to see the image properly. Eyepieces with shorter focal lengths generally have shorter eye relief, which can be quite uncomfortable, especially for glasses wearers. A 5 mm eyepiece, for example is tricky to use for this reason. But with your Barlow lens, your 10 mm eyepiece has the same magnification as a 5 mm but with a more comfortable eye relief.
The Celestron Omni 2x Barow lens has quality optics worthy of the best set-ups. The two-element optics are fully multi-coated and the edges of the lenses are blackened to virtually eliminate internal reflections. The 1.25" barrel fits standard 1.25" focusers and diagonals. And the Barlow will accept all your 1.25" eyepieces. A metal thumbscrew keeps the eyepiece in place.
